Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting

Volvo owners appreciate their key fob's handy remote features. They can lock and unlock their vehicle, start the motor, and even locate it via the smartphone app.

Place the key fob's face up on a clean surface. Find the button to let it go. Place a coin between the fob cover and the fob, and slowly pull it up.

The cover will come loose and slide off to reveal the manual blade! If you can't find the button, search the now-revealed manual key access to find the lever or slot that is hidden.

Closing the Windows

One of the lesser-known features on Volvo key fobs is that you are able to close all windows instantly using the fobs. This is great when you're trying to squeeze into a tight parking space, or simply when you want to get some fresh air in the cabin while driving.

Press and hold the unlocking button on your Volvo remote control for four seconds. This will lower all of the windows, and the sunroof if it has one. After you've finished using the vehicle, you can close all windows by pressing the lock key for four seconds.

You can also use your key fob for activating your car's panic alarm. It will sound an intense, enthralling roar that could frighten away thieves and help you get home in peace after a night out. This feature is great should you live in a dangerous area or want to keep your family safe while away from home.

The opening of the Tailgate

Turning off the Alarm

Modern key fobs are much more useful than a traditional car key. However, they don't work in a perfect way for a long time, and their batteries eventually go out of service. If you're in a hurry and don't want to go to an establishment to get your key fob reset, you can try to get it to work at home.

Find a clean surface and lay out your key fob, battery and extra keys. The cover should come loose and fall off, revealing the mechanical key blade beneath it.

Reconnect the battery and the alarm should stop. If it doesn't work, the owner's manual should have a way to reset the system.
